Get a head start on your year with a nuc (nucleus) hive. Pick up typically occurs sometime in the first two weeks of May.  The nucs sold at Ebert Honey are for PICK-UP ONLY, though we can coordinate pick-up at either Lynnville or Mount Vernon (Iowa). We distribute the nucs in ventilated travel boxes made specifically for nuc transport. The nucs are bee tight when carefully closed for the journey, but it is best to always be prepared for a few escaping during transit.  These include at least 4-frames of bees, stored feed, and brood.  We will add a fifth frame for expansion room, and this frame may or may not be drawn at pick up.   Read more about “nucs” by clicking here!

The queens are accepted and laying prior to pick up.  This is one of the main advantages of purchasing a nuc rather than a package.

Our nucs cannot be shipped.  Please select Mount Vernon or Lynnville for pick up during checkout.
